Quiet moment

Sorry I've been gone for so long (again). Since y'all asked for more photos from Costa Rica . . . the next batch of photos will be a hodge-podge from CR, in no particular order.

This shot was taken in Arenal and the fellow shown was our waiter. He was infinitely patient with us and our unfortunate inability to speak Spanish; he even taught us a few words. He seemed to do pretty much everything -- including food preparation -- and told us his name is Robin, "and that's my real name." I'd wondered if some of the people we encountered anglicized their names and I guess that's proof. Maybe to keep the tourists from mangling their names?

cool shot its nice too know that there are other people like me who just get too busy but love the site too much to stop all together. Lovely to have you back and looking forward to the CR photots

@jamesy: Thank you, Debbie! Yes, I do love Animus and particularly find the friendships addictive. I love hanging out here -- I just don't always have the time to be here every day (or week). It's better to drop in and post on occasion than give up, definitely. :)

This is a timeless photo of your new CR friend, Robin ... and yes, a rather different name for that part of the world.

@grouser: It was actually quite cheery in that restaurant, Grouster. There was a curved side completely open to the weather; I assume they can close it off during the rainy season but it was wide open. However, that bar area was a little dark and I thought it looked better to leave the photo dark than lighten it up and show the grain, in this case, because it seems to reflect the way Robin was pondering. Thanks, m'dear.

@Lorraine: Thank you, Rainy! That potted palm does give it a bit of a Casablanca look, doesn't it? I wouldn't have noticed.

Well I suppose that is why they call it waiting... Excellent shot. I was often struck by the kindness and patience of the South Americans.

@Earnest: Me, too! They're incredibly kind, patient, enthusiastic, friendly . . . and not just to the tourists. They seem very laid-back and happy. Maybe it's because they recycle. Good karma or something.
