@Judy: Thanks, Judy. That's a good question. Besides the fact that they get plenty of exercise, Costa Ricans are very big into protecting the environment and that has to be pretty healthy -- you know, the way they limit toxins by keeping things green. I looked up their health care, actually, since I woke up in the middle of the night with the kind of migraine that sends people to the ER, one night, and everything I read indicates that it's quite good. Are you an early riser? I'm up at 4:45, having never managed to go to sleep. Grrr. Insomnia sucks.

@MrsAmber: Thank you! I don't take a lot of people pics and I found myself wishing I'd taken more shots like this one, when I got home. There's an awful lot of interesting activity in CR.

@grouser: Yep, and they're really, really friendly and happy people. I often don't think to take pictures of people. I know, weird. I'm used to butterflies and flowers, which don't give you a funny look or turn away. The diet is undoubtedly a factor. On our third day, we decided we couldn't take another moment without a Coke. Pitiful fat Americans, used to their sugar. Ha! I didn't notice that about the dog and human legs! So observant you are, Grousie.

@Lorraine: I sit, sit, sit and then go for a burst of exercise in the park. That way does not work well. LOL Thank you, Rainy dear. :)

@grouser: Not a big fan of honey, although I can't say why. We're aware that we need to mend the errors of our ways. Working on it, slowly but surely. In England, I drink bottled water (I always end up with that fizzy Irish stuff, yuck), Ribena or that lovely crushed apple juice. I wish we could get crushed apple juice, here.

@peter: Yes, so true. It's always shocking to return to the U.S. from another country, isn't it?

@Richard_Irwin: That really jumped out at me, actually -- the social aspect. I do think that has to be at least part of the reason people are so happy in Costa Rica, don't you? Having to drive everywhere really reduces the amount of human interaction and takes away one of the true joys of living.

@Ravi: Thank you, Ravi! I had to do a little fixing to get the photo to a point I considered acceptable, but shooting through a dirty window is not the greatest of conditions. :)

@Earnest: There was a gal running along Indiana Avenue (the main road that leads to our home), tonight, and I thought she had a good shot at becoming roadkill. She must be new to town -- needs a park pass to save her hide.
