Channeling Wood - Costa Rica #19

After visiting the three separate butterfly habitats at the Monteverde Butterfly Garden, we proceeded into a room where they keep a number of display cases. Some of the insects on display are living and some are not (there are some very pretty pinned butterflies I would have loved to see in motion, for example). My husband spotted The Stick Boy Who Got Away.

@P J W Miller: The credit goes to the spouse. I didn't even notice this little guy, but that was partly because I was avoiding the display with the gigantic cockroach. Ewwww.

@grouser: I took almost zero people pictures, but you might get to meet our tour guides at the coffee plantation and in the rainforest. We'll see. Nice to see you back, Grousikins!

@peter: I think they're basically harmless, but yeah . . . that might be a little bit of a shocker to discover in a hotel room. This one was at the butterfly garden, but he'd gotten loose and was hanging around the outside of one of their display cases. Or, maybe he was just a drop-in. Life in the tropics can be interesting. The fellow who gave us our tour of the coffee plantation told us there was some kind of tarantula in the young plants, in the morning. He said it's orange and blue, very pretty and extremely deadly. We were glad they'd encouraged the tarantula to move on.
