@grouser: Hahaha! That's not my first choice, but I loved the look of that pretty face in this shot. I had to sort of chase him around the pole. He moved very rapidly and only stopped to look around briefly, now and then -- I guess for predators. There was a dead red-tailed hawk just a block away and it appeared that he'd run into a pole. Yeow. Some enemy.

@Lesley: You probably already knew these guys are amongst my favorites, right? I just love their coloring. Thank you! Kiddo's out beginning tomorrow. He slept most of his last break. This time, I'm going to prod him and keep him awake. LOL

@Jeff: I think he knew what he was doing, but I was right there to catch a chunk of beak and glue it back on, if he needed me. Those guys make a mess of the poles -- holes everywhere! But, they're so, so pretty we must forgive them.
