@jamesy: I think they're just like us in that some of those little guys are more fearless than others. This one was definitely on alert, but as long as I crept toward him slowly, he just kept doing his thing. I think the closest I've ever gotten to a squirrel is about 7-10 feet (2 meters?).

@Judy: Well, yeah, they can definitely be a nuisance. I had one hollering at me and throwing nuts, one day. This one was just making a minor mess and having a snack. He behaved pretty well.

@Linerberry: I love meercats. But, we seem to be a little shy on meercats and heavy on squirrels. Anyone who plays in our yard is fair game for photography. Thanks!

@Photosanity: Thank you! Aren't those little claws darling? The better to climb your trees with, my dear. When we lived in Michigan, we had a rather bold little squirrel who kept trying to get into our townhouse (and succeeded, just once -- then we used the other door, when he was around).
