The grumpy look

From the files, a photo of either an ostrich or emu (I can never keep those two straight) taken at Woolaroc Museum's wildlife refuge in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

I won't be posting for a few days because there is some catch-up work I have to do on my book blog, so see you all next week!!!

Ha ha, whatever version of bird this is, they are the most strange things. We have an Ostrich farm close to us, and when you walk passed their enclosure, they follow along you on the other side of the hedge....all you see are ten long necks and beaks dipping up and down...its so funny.

@Richard_Irwin: Oh, that's interesting! I've noticed they always seem to come over to check out the visitors at the zoo and they definitely did so at this place. They must be naturally curious animals, but they also seem to have a short attention span and walk away once they've checked you out. They're pretty funny to watch, aren't they? :)

@grouser: They're great. I love those grumpy faces and awkward fat bodies on spindly legs.

@Lorraine: I'd give him that message, if I happened to live in Oklahoma. I'm sure grumpy whatever bird would be very happy to hear your thoughts, Rainy. His face, however, is probably stuck. :)

@Décio: He must have heard the weather forecast. :) As to the lens length, I've been told that the site multiplies lens length by 1.5, which appears to be correct. That should have been a 300mm lens I was using. I actually had trouble getting far enough back to focus, but that was my longest lens at the time.
