Vegetarian Lunch

Still digging in the files because we had another ugly weather day. I took this photo through the window in our back door, which obviously reduces the quality a bit (although, who can say whether I'd have caught him at all if I'd gone out the door?), but I thought he was cute enough to share.

That is just perfect! You were right not to go outside...these little fellas are so quick you would have missed him! I do miss Squirels:-)

@Linerberry: They are very quick, although there have been a couple of times that a squirrel let me walk as close as about 10 feet (3 metres?). You have no squirrels? We have more than our share!

What a wonderful pose. The tail is huge and so cute it is with front limbs. Very good job!

I'd go for baking them in clay.
It's strange how the fluffy tail makes all the difference.

@grouser: Nooooo! You guys are so sick. You're right, though, that the fluffy tails are really cute. That's what makes them adorable rodents rather than annoying ones, I suppose.

@Roman: I think he just happened to be facing the house, but sometimes they sure do seem to pose nicely. Thanks. And, man . . . that is so wrong. They're supposed to go in a pie. I made myself say "ew".

@Earnest: I have that trouble with the neighborhood dogs. They used to kill all my plants via a combination of digging and piddling. I bought a bunch of large planters and switched to gardening in pots, with one small raised garden -- the pots worked great for flowers, tomatoes and lavender. Then the neighborhood cats turned my raised vegetable/herb garden into a litter box. Sigh. No trouble with squirrels, here, but I think that's probably because we have two huge oak trees (as in 75-100 feet tall) in the front and several at the back of the property. Plenty of acorns to go around.
