How do you serve a serval, sir?

Let's call #6 the final Memphis Zoo pic -- the serval was my favorite because it looked so huggable (and seemed to resemble our dearly departed kitty, Sunshine, in facial expression). A friend of mine said she has worked at a zoo, helping care for sick servals. She said they're very soft. Well, there you go.

@Lorraine: Thank you, Lorraine. It's a beautiful cat, possibly my favorite of the wild cats. BTW, because you drew my attention to the fact that some people are sensitive about zoos, I took extra care to avoid taking shots in which cage wire can be seen. The Memphis Zoo is quite large and clean, so it was easier there than our local zoo.

I like even more this one in the previous, first of all the cat so fine, this magnificent profile and a precision of shot to perfect. I think that the contrast is more important and helps in the quality of the photo a lot ;)

Beautiful shot Nancy I love servals their ears always look too big for their heads and they have such beautiful noses

@jamesy: They do have big ears, don't they? I think they're marvelous animals -- close enough in size to a house cat that you feel like reaching out to scratch those ears. Thanks, Debbie!

@peter: Thank you, Peter! One of my book buddies actually has a Savannah kitten -- a relative of the serval, bred with domestic cats. I think I'm kind of envious. :)
