Mr. Earl's House

@jamesy: I hope we can make it back out there to take more pics, soon. It's defnitely unique! :)

@grouser: LOL Exactly! The old one was covered with works of art -- Mr. Earl paints, but I assume he's been so busy building that he hasn't found the time to decorate, yet. I didn't know about the last home till it was too late.

@Lorraine: I think he's got a Mrs. Earl, already. LOL Thanks, Lorraine. I wish I'd had a chance to see the house that burned. I heard it was quite a work of art. He'll eventually pretty this one up, I'm sure!

@Jeff: Yes, his house makes me want to meet him, too. My eldest son says Mr. Earl is well-known in the local art community and he was horrified to find out that the original house burned.

@Pixim: Oui, c'est une maison étrange, d'accord! Mr. Earl est un artiste et sa vieille maison était très colorée. Je suppose qu'il peindra cette maison, finalement et ce sera tout à fait une oeuvre d'art intéressante. :)

@Richard_Irwin: Technically, I believe the house is in "the county" (it's well outside the city boundaries; Bovina is kind of a rural extension of Vicksburg) and one of the oddities of our area is that it doesn't have very strict zoning laws. I love that last sentence -- so true. He's really quite an artistic genius. My son told me Mr. Earl has always had trouble heating and cooling his home and I had to laugh. It has a breezy look -- there are some windows, but a lot of it appears to be open to the elements.

@Kathryn: Oh, Kathryn, rush right out and photograph it, if you haven't already! We drove to Tennessee for Thanksgiving, so I haven't been able to look at other blogs. I'll check to see if you have. If not, I'll be annoying you till you do. LOL

@Earnest: It's very inviting -- I think maybe because the materials make such a wildly creative house look like the owner must be truly down-to-earth, maybe? Very cool that you've known people who lived in similar homes. I agree that the house is a work of art. And, I presume it will eventually be colorfully decorated, like his first house. There are a couple of small works of art that you can't see, but I hope to eventually go back to capture them. I get lost easily, so I've got to have the husband in the driver's seat, for this one. LOL
