@grouser: Not quite! This one was near the reservoir in Mississippi, not in Hawaii. Once again, flighty Bookfool had trouble deciding what to post and uploaded at the eleventh hour. :)

@JJ: Thank you. They are stunning birds -- "regal" is an apt description. He had his eye on me, though, hence the title. :)

Whouahhh, What beautiful shot. Just a less brilliant white (in any cases for my screen) I like very much the framing, and this bird full center is good, the merit indeed Bravo ;)

@Pixim: Merci, Pixim! Le blanc est un peu brillant. J'ai dû travailler très vite; ce type a enlevé très vite. C'est pour pourquoi je entitled la photo "le chèque de pré-vol" - il était sur le point d'enlever!

@Jeff: It is quite a contrast, isn't it? Oh, yes, be glad you weren't a fish in that lake. There are herons everywhere. We were driving on a two-lane (the Natchez Trace) with soft shoulders, so it was kind of disappointing having to drive past many, many herons without a place to stop and photograph them. When the opportunity arrived, you can imagine how quickly I tried to grab the chance to capture one.
