Leaf and . . . well, I don't know what that green stuff is . . . on the surface of the water in a cypress swamp.

Duck weed if I'm not mistaken.
The curse of the ornamental pond.
Supposedly spread on the feet of aquatic birds
Hence the name.

@jamesy: LOL! You can have the gators. None showed up, but we do have them in our area. There's a place we once went canoeing that has a little side creek they call Alligator Alley. We avoided that creek. :)

@Earnest: Grouser says he thinks it's duck weed. I think it's really pretty, but one more good reason not to step in the swamp. :)
