Swampy #1

Starting today, I'll post my favorites from last week's field trip to a cypress swamp via the Natchez Trace in Mississippi and past the reservoir in Jackson. They're not perfect -- something is amiss with my 28mm lens and the husband kept walking off with my tripod whenever I switched to a longer lens (advice on how to get husbands to be better pack horses is welcome), but I got a few decent pics. Once again, I've reduced the pixel size and I lose quality every time I add that little watermark. Why is the photo so whopping huge? I have no idea. I'm still on the learning curve . . . at the slow-people end, I guess.

and now trees, I love trees and water and cats, I like you....it's a beautiful photo, can't give advice on husbands, see I got rid of mine 0 hum, anyhoo...I love this photo

@Lorraine: Well, thank you, Lorraine. I liked you the moment I saw that cat by your shoulder. Should have gotten rid of my husband before I got him, but we've been married longer than I've been alive, now. Or something like that. Thank you for both comments. :)

Could almost be an elephants foot.
Why bother with the watermark if it spoils the quality,
if someone wants your pic enough to steal it they can clone it out anyway.

@grouser: Can they? See, I told you I'm at the slow end of the learning curve. Well, I'll just quit watermarking, then. I've already loaded the swamp photos, though, so I think I'll leave them alone.

beautiful shot and reflection Nancy. Not sure what to do about the husband mine is a reasonably good pack horse.

@jamesy: Thanks, Debbie! Mine is decent at carrying; he just won't stay still! He walked off with my 500mm lens, allegedly to put the tripod in the trunk, and never came back -- had to dig out the mobile and call him when I noticed he was sitting across the swamp. He's just not well trained. LOL

I'd skip the watermark, myself. Actually, I do. I hate the distraction from a beautiful shot.

@Les: In absence of a pack husband, I'd have to carry everything -- I should definitely shut up and be happy.

I think I'll do that. The swamp photos I've currently got loaded are watermarked, so it's just a matter of taking the time to reload them. Blecch. Too tired. Maybe later. :)

I really like the floating leaves that are out of focus, I like it that they seem to drift through the shot so beautifully poised.

@Richard_Irwin: Well, thank you! That's a nice way to look at it. The swamp is really oddly beautiful with so much floating on its surface -- just not anything you want to climb into. :)
