Flamingo feathersPosted by Bookfool (Mississippi, United States) on 12 November 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. I discovered something interesting while photographing the flamingos, this particular day. As I was snapping away, a young mother walked up with a friend and their children. She looked across the pond and said, "I thought flamingos were pink. Don't they usually look pink? Those are orange." Actually, it just depends on how the light strikes them. Sometimes they look vivid or soft pink (or a blend of the two); sometimes orange. Regardless, they're striking animals. They spent most of their time drinking, preening and fighting. This is the last of my zoo pics. I decided to just choose a favorite from each of the animals I concentrated on -- hope to go back to the zoo to take more, soon. Next will be a few photos of a hawk spotted not far from our home. Thanks to all who have commented on my zoo photos and sorry I've been so slow to respond. The husband has been home for 5 days. He takes up a lot of my time -- in fact, he's somewhat exhausting. I didn't say that. :)
