My Special PlacePosted by Bookfool (Mississippi, United States) on 7 November 2008 in Lifestyle & Culture. Oops, the zoo photos will be delayed one day, so I can participate in the challenge! My special place is outside with the cat and a stack of books (at least, this time of year -- when it finally cools off and the mosquitoes disappear). Invariably, there will be at least one anole lizard nearby, peeking from between the shutters.

amy from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaLOVE how you did this!! Excellent!! (and I so get the book, cat, and chair outside thing, too) 7 Nov 2008 5:30am @amy: Thank you, Amy! I had to do a lot of thinking about this one, but then I walked outside with the cat, the books and the camera and thought . . . "Oh. Of course." LOL jamesy from christchurch, New ZealandWell done Nancy great to see you participating in the challenge. great montage of photos so we know what is special to you 7 Nov 2008 6:44am @jamesy: Thank you, Debbie! I had fun gathering the material for this one, after I realized just what I needed to show. Yesterday was a perfect autumn day. :) Les from Lincoln, United StatesI love this montage! Well-done!! Love the beautiful tree in all its glory. Did you purposely choose not to put the lizard in the bottom left frame? ;) 7 Nov 2008 12:02pm @Les: Thanks, Les! That tree is right across the street from us and it's absolutely stunning. I did deliberately try to put the lizard on the lower right, so that he was looking into the montage, yes. I would have shuffled the photos around until he showed up there, if it hadn't worked on the first try (which it did). Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaOH I LOVE this, bravo, nice corner, I'd visit ;) lol 7 Nov 2008 1:07pm @Lorraine: Thank you! This is the time of year to visit. The rest of the year, we do a lot of sweating and swatting of mosquitoes, but autumn is awesome in Mississippi. :) Violetta from St.Petersburg, Russian FederationLive and interesting composition! It is pleasant! =) 7 Nov 2008 3:34pm @Violetta: Thank you, Violetta! It's the perfect time of year in our area. :) *Rich* from Stafford, United KingdomNice little insight into what you like. :o) Your cat looks lovely. I wish I could say the same about sitting out in the garden. Here in Britain, it's about 5 degrees Centigrade. bbbrrrr I need to move I think. ;O) 7 Nov 2008 7:03pm @*Rich*: Thank you, Rich! We call the cat Miss Spooky (the "Miss" being a Southern thing). She's 14 years old but still has spunk. I'd rather live in your area and have cool summers and cold winters, to be honest. We have a good 7 months of being driven indoors by the heat and sun. You just need to come visit Mississippi any time you're shivering. You'll go home nicely thawed. :) peter from new york, United Stateslovely 'collage' you have here! very cool shot and nice insight into what makes you happy. thanks for sharing! 7 Nov 2008 7:17pm @peter: Thank you, Peter! I had fun putting that little collage together (with the help of the cat, who also would rather be outdoors when the weather is perfect). :) @Veronelle: Merci beaucoup, Veronelle! Earnest from Oklahoma, United StatesNice grouping... and great description of your spot. I traveled to Mississippi many times and the people were great there.... 7 Nov 2008 9:41pm @Earnest: Thank you! Yes, people are very friendly in Mississippi. When we first moved here, I didn't know what to make of all those strangers waving to us as we drove by! LOL You should visit, again. I can show you some of the good places to have fun taking photos. Arash from Dubai, United Arab Emiratesnice frames all together. 8 Nov 2008 12:31am @Arash: Thank you! The cat and I had fun with this one. Not sure about the lizard. :) Jeffster from Long Island, United StatesThanks for the flattering comment. A very creative presentation of your special place. Nice balance of colors. 8 Nov 2008 3:38am @Jeffster: You're welcome and thank you. :) bisha from Saitama, JapanPerfect collage! I wish I had some place to sit outside, but I can make do with my books and the cats. :) 8 Nov 2008 5:31am @bisha: Thanks, Nat! Yeah, this time of year I appreciate the chair on the porch. The rest of the year, it just sits there and taunts. Cats make indoors better. :) Kylie Greenan from Richmond, Australiaok.. a very bold statement, I have visitied possibly 80 blogs in the last two days on my special place, but this for me seems to capture so much, I can relate so well, and I think for me, I love your special places the most. Thank you so much for taking part in the challenge, sorry I am so late getting to your page, working down the 91 comments, but it was worth the wait, and I am glad I saw this later, as it truly is very special. Thanks again for participating! 8 Nov 2008 10:20am @Kylie Greenan: Wow, thanks Kylie! That's a pretty huge compliment, since you hosted the challenge and visited everyone! No problem on getting to the page late. Sometimes I forget to go back and check to see if more comments have been posted, so it took me 6 days to get to your comment. :) |
