Les from Lincoln, United StatesOh my gosh! I was looking at the community page and saw this thumbnail and thought, "Won't Bookfool be impressed with this shot!" Then I realized it was yours! Incredible capture, Nancy!! The dof is perfect. The motion is amazing. Five stars! 4 Nov 2008 11:56am @Les: LOL! That's so funny. The bird photos always do catch my eye. It was thanks to Will that I got this one. He spotted the heron and nudged me to hurry up and shoot that thing. Thanks, Les! @Mehdi: Thank you! Earnest from Oklahoma, United StatesA fantastic shot... These guys show up here sometimes.. All I can say is that you don't want to be under one when it's flying over... :)) 4 Nov 2008 12:25pm @Earnest: Thanks you! Oh, heavens, what a thought! I would definitely not want to be directly underneath a bird of that size, ever!! Hope that doesn't mean you had a really bad experience. :) jeffster from United StatesNice capture. The blue heron really stands out against the blue background. Like the eye as a focal point.. 4 Nov 2008 1:37pm @jeffster: Thank you! I was kind of concerned that the background is a little too cluttery, so you've eased my mind about that, a bit. It's kind of difficult to get herons to go where you want them to. :) @Françoise: Beaucoup de merci! @thierry: Merci, Thierry! @Eleftheria!: Thank you! andrea from Padova, ItalyA really good capture, with the bird "entering" the photo. 4 Nov 2008 7:58pm @andrea: Thank you! I toyed with that photo for a while, attempting to get just enough air space in front of the heron. I appreciate you telling me it worked for you! :) *Rich* from Stafford, United KingdomWow, that's great, the bird looks proper frozen in time! 4 Nov 2008 8:31pm @*Rich*: Thank you! I like the way you put that, "proper frozen in time". :) @MaryB: Thank you! MaryP from Aberdeenshire, United KingdomOooh!! First class image. I've always wanted to take a shot of a Heron in flight. This is brilliant. 4 Nov 2008 9:43pm @MaryP: Thank you! They're amazing in flight, aren't they? I've been working on trying to get a shot like this for ages. Half the battle is getting close enough. jamesy from christchurch, New ZealandThis is truly stunning I am as jealous as can be. What I would give to be able to get a shot like this. How stunning. sorry keep repeating myself this is the last image I looked at today and I don't even have the words to describe how great it is. CONGRATULATIONS keep posting these 5 Nov 2008 12:13am @jamesy: Goodness, I'm kind of speechless. Thank you! Tomorrow's post will be my last Gulf Coast photo (not a bird) and then I'm afraid you might find the tomatoes a disappointing segue into zoo pics. :) @Reza: Thank you! amy from Nanaimo, BC, CanadaAbsolutely a FANtastic capture of this heron!!! Brilliant! 5 Nov 2008 4:48am @amy: Thank you, Amy! bisha from Saitama, JapanFantastic action shot! Nice timing to catch it taking off like that! 6 Nov 2008 11:53am Magda from Vancouver, CanadaWow!
