@Philip: Thanks, Philip. I believe it's an immature Cooper's hawk. He sat still for quite a long time and seemed to find me curious but not frightening. Rich from Gray, United StatesVery nice! Check out my photo for tomorrow... I have a shot of a Coopers Hawk already lined up. I watched it stalk, flush and then chase down a dove in mid air and fly off to eat its bounty. 17 Oct 2008 6:36pm @Rich: I've been flipping through your pics and I can't wait to see your Coopers Hawk. So, looking at your URL and the photos, I have to ask if you're in Mississippi, also. Bulldawgfan seems like a hint that you at least used to be. Not to mention the soy, the hawks, the possum and the Spanish moss. :) @Carrie K: Thank you, Carrie! What a lovely surprise to "see" you in here. :) Rich from Gray, United StatesBookfool, 17 Oct 2008 11:45pm @Rich: Oops, sorry -- I posted a response in the wrong place, so I'll try a second time. Now, what did I say? Oh, yes, I just happened to read a scene involving a football game with the Georgia Bulldogs team, just after I asked you that question. Such timing! And, I love your "on the road" theme. JJ from Jersey City, United Statesawesome capture of the hawk wonderful focus selection 18 Oct 2008 12:45am @JJ: Thank you, JJ! Bookfool from Vicksburg, United StatesRich, just after I asked you that question I went off to read in my fat leather chair and the author just happened to mention a Georgia football game . . . and the Bulldogs. So funny. Don't sell yourself short. Your photos are great. I love your "on the road" theme. Good thinking! 18 Oct 2008 1:13am Les from Lincoln, United StatesExcellent capture, Bookfool!! I wish my eagle shots turned out as well. 18 Oct 2008 2:31am @Les: Les, you just need to move to the Deep South. We actually saw this same fellow flying around his territory, not far down the road, yesterday. Half the battle is finding them and then getting close enough. Now, I just need to work on clarity. Maybe a better lens . . . . :) Jean-Michel from BRUSSELS, BelgiumWhat a splendid bird! The image is perfect! 19 Oct 2008 2:59pm @Jean-Michel: Thank you and thanks for visiting my blog! *Rich* from Stafford, United KingdomGreat shot here! Did you use a really long zoom? 6 Nov 2008 8:47pm |
